kinda thinking about neil's gunshot and how we don't hear it. totally silent. it reminds of the "if a tree falls in the woods" question. neil dying alone in the middle of his father's study.

and it's such a loud weapon, too, which makes it seem all the more intentional that it was cut out. in his last moments he went out with a bang, but nearly no one hears it.

even before the night of the play: his friends and keating independently told him to just talk, and perhaps he'll get what he wants — but he knows that's impossible. no one else truly understood. they didn't really hear him.

just like rebelling against his father to be in the play: did it matter if he was found out anyway? he knew when he was caught that it was over no matter what. does his death mean anything if the only one to hear the shot was the very same man who controlled every aspect of his life?

if neil falls and no one is around to hear the gunshot, did he contribute a verse?

the thing abt FOB is that their lyrics become so much more interesting when put in the context of the rest of their publicised lives, like when you see the songs as one part of a whole alongside interviews, blog posts, gossip and tabloids, articles, and their place in pop culture at any given time. but at the same time you really can't discuss this while remaining a passive audience, because that sort of hyper-analysis of real life people is exactly what led them to write half that shit in the first place. the invasive audience is the target audience, in a way.

i think given that gavin said chris isn’t mad at eddie and that chris also showed up and said he loves eddie and wants eddie around, i feel like the best explanation for why chris is still in texas (other than the doylist explanation of gavin’s filming availability) is that he feels stuck there. maybe he thinks that choice has already been made for him, maybe eddie’s parents have given him the impression that going back to LA isn’t an option, maybe he’s too nervous to express how quickly he regretted his decision, maybe he didn’t know how to the get the words out once enough time had passed. and now with eddie in texas, maybe that will come to a head next episode.

no because its two realities. the pilot was what shauna believes, that everyone was crazy, and enjoying themselves and fully lost to the wilderness. this is obviously not true, but it's what she believes, as it's easier to justify than knowing it was just her who wanted to hunt and kill.

the finale is what everyone else believes, that they tried their best to stop it and worked together and it was only shauna hunting, but this also isn't true. they all hold responsibility for mari's death. the hunt wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for akilah, they could have done more to stand up to shauna and they all ate her, even if they didn't want to. this is their way of justifying what happened, by putting it all on shauna (I am not saying that shauna did not cause the brunt of this horror, because she did, but no-one is completely innocent).

neither stories are true, and neither are lies. both realities exist at the same time, there is no real timeline it's just deeply flawed perception and memory, in both versions

What I love the most about atsv is the spots design, his limbs are a little too long and his chest and torso are a bit stubby and this is amplified in a fun silly way by how he holds himself the first time we see him, he’s awkward and clumsy and yet when his demeanor switches suddenly his anatomy makes you uncomfortable, when he’s sprinting towards miles all you can do is hold your breathe as a foreboding feeling sinks into you’re gut. He becomes imposing as his elongated limbs suddenly feel sinister and inhuman instead of goofy. He goes from “hehe his arms and legs are lengthy” to “oh god his arms and legs are lengthy”

johnny cade is a fighter. hes one second away from biting at any given time, like a dog with its teeth bared and hackles up, waiting for that unlucky person to take another step closer, but there’s not anger in those eyes, it’s fear. he doesn’t let himself get beat up-that time he was jumped by bob and his group he had pulled his switch. he had given bob a pretty nasty cut. he had bit and torn and scratched. the only feason he lost was because he was outnumbered. he has his tail between his legs and his muscles tense as he gets ready to bite. the only time those hackles are down is when he’s with the gang.

johnny isn’t some soft marshmallow. he’s an angry, scared kid who’s been shaped by the world to be on the watch for who’s going to hurt him next.
