i love the two genre of mountain goats songs are like “i shot a guy in the face. and id do it again if i had to. that’s what loving you is like” and “i saw a monkey through the window. he waved at me. i didn’t know monkeys knew how to do that”

the way the other angels treat aziraphale reminds me of how people at church would treat obviously queer kids who didn’t know they were queer yet. especially in the flashback scenes and in s1. they all see he’s different and treat him like shit but in that really vague passive aggressive christian way y’know

What I love the most about atsv is the spots design, his limbs are a little too long and his chest and torso are a bit stubby and this is amplified in a fun silly way by how he holds himself the first time we see him, he’s awkward and clumsy and yet when his demeanor switches suddenly his anatomy makes you uncomfortable, when he’s sprinting towards miles all you can do is hold your breathe as a foreboding feeling sinks into you’re gut. He becomes imposing as his elongated limbs suddenly feel sinister and inhuman instead of goofy. He goes from “hehe his arms and legs are lengthy” to “oh god his arms and legs are lengthy”

kinda thinking about neil's gunshot and how we don't hear it. totally silent. it reminds of the "if a tree falls in the woods" question. neil dying alone in the middle of his father's study.
and it's such a loud weapon, too, which makes it seem all the more intentional that it was cut out. in his last moments he went out with a bang, but nearly no one hears it.
even before the night of the play: his friends and keating independently told him to just talk, and perhaps he'll get what he wants — but he knows that's impossible. no one else truly understood. they didn't really hear him.
just like rebelling against his father to be in the play: did it matter if he was found out anyway? he knew when he was caught that it was over no matter what. does his death mean anything if the only one to hear the shot was the very same man who controlled every aspect of his life?
if neil falls and no one is around to hear the gunshot, did he contribute a verse?

this is not some kind of value judgement of this behavior, but i am genuinely curious: is there a word for the phenomenon of people really coyly dropping hints that they might be transgender but being purposefully very opaque and playing dumb about it? hear me out here for a second. like those stupid 4chan greentexts that go “Yo i like dressing up like a girl and have long hair and love skirts and also want to take estrogen but im a completely straight cis man, why is that?” Obviously OP knows why that is. it seems like they are only saying that publicly so someone else can tell them that they are transgender. it feels like a reflection of how gender is socially constructed, and so some people feel they need to be recognized as an “egg” by other people before they allow themselves to internalize it.

someone mentioned a while ago that it's odd that (presumably, if sam is in the tma-verse) a universe without fears had a tape recorder click on without prompting,,,,
but the very last scene of tma, when the fears are supposedly gone, a tape recorder still clicks on by itself, at least a few days to weeks after jon and martin are gone.
the only difference is that basira, melanie, and georgie guessed (correctly) they were able to turn it off. something is still able to listen if it ever wants to.
sticking to the science element of the magnus protocol, perhaps what happened here is like a chemical reaction.
TMA is taking place under a hood, where the elements can be mixed and matched to create different reactions in a controlled environment. elias was able to make this huge big chemical reaction under the hood. He was able to calculate the equation so it would be unbalanced in favor of the Watcher.
This reaction was going to sustain itself until all of the elements (read: other fears) slowly blinked out of existence. Jon was going to be an accelerant, speed up the chemical reaction to make it die out faster.
but everyone else says to open The Hood, expose the reaction to the rest of the room. Maybe the reaction continues, maybe it doesn't. Maybe the elements are able to be recombined and it happens again, maybe they aren't. The only way to find out is to open it up.
and they do.
they open the hood.
and the reaction stops
the space allows for the chemical bonds to break and the reaction and chemical equation becomes balanced once again.
but just because the elements are balanced, doesn't mean they're all gone. they aren't in enough quantities to be harmful anymore, but that doesn't mean they're not still there

The way the door thing now extends to Christopher is making me super emotional.
The thing about the doors for them is there's always a purpose to show them. Because there are scenes where Buck or Eddie/ Chris are at each other's places without a scene of them showing up.
But we see Eddie bring Chris over after the tsunami, asking Buck to care for his heart again and to assure him he hasn't lost Eddie's trust.
We see Buck opening the door to Eddie's house when he brings him home after the shooting, bringing Eddie home to his heart after the will reveal.
We see Buck not only entering Eddie's house, but breaking down his door- his last defense- during the breakdown.
We see Buck choosing Eddie's space for solace after the lightning.
We see Buck choosing to ask to be let in through the kitchen door, the kitchen where so much love is stored, and Eddie being confused Buck even has to ask. Of course you can come in. You belong here. In my space. In my home. In my heart.
And there's more examples that convey the same message. One is asking to step inside with the other or, if they don't ask, then it shows they know they can step in. It depends on the circumstances.
But extending that to Christopher, and having Buck be the one to try and be let in, is beautiful. And Eddie himself is asking. His heart is locked away from him and he doesn't want to break down the door and get him back. He wants to give Chris whatever he needs, he just wants to know he'll be okay. And he's asking Buck to get that door open. Because he's done it before for Eddie.

its very crazy when I see youtube videos discussing hbo war shows and they start going off about the cinematography, and the screen behind is only showing the giant explosions and whatnot. like yeah it's obviously very impressive technical/special effects, and they're great scenes but. for me, the best moments exist in between the quietness of these shows.... the beauty is in the dark aisle of the banika hospital leckie's in. it's in easy company walking through a field during the night. in blithe looking at the blue sky. in sledge resting while surrounded by nature.... the beauty is in the quiet moments!

This is an insane dump that I think is phrased badly but… One of my favorite lines in Mouthwashing is when the pony (polle? horse baby?) standing upon the hill of empty mouthwash bottles says “why are still so concerned with him?” after Jimmy “apologizes.” I think it truly represents who Jimmy thinks is the victim (curly) and what he thinks his wrongdoing was and what taking responsibility in the situation is, as well as how the game acknowledges this is grossly incorrect. To Jimmy, it was never about assaulting Anya, in fact he does not view that as a factor and she is not someone who he feels guilt about.
The closest he can get to acknowledging and “taking responsibility” for assaulting Anya is ridding of the baby (metaphorically at least), which can be read as ridding of possible evidence. His idea of taking responsibility is, in the end, making sure nobody faces consequences or is “tarnished” by his actions. His idea of responsibility is devoid of Anya.

“Pride is a damsel in distress”
Athena is prideful. She’s clever and cunning and a strong warrior but at the end of the day she’s prideful and hubristic. That’s where Odysseus and Athena’s falling out came from. They were both too prideful to admit their own faults.
“Thunder bring her through the wringer”
Zeus wasn’t lying, he is the judgement call. His judgment was to not release Odysseus. Athena stood against him, so she had to fall.
But that doesn’t mean she’ll stay down

the people who think wonderland is always super accepting of gay people are WRONG sorry. queen of hearts had a SEVERE gay situationship breakup when she was sixteen and you NEVER recover from those. she resents her heartbreak and outlawed homosexuality in wonderland bc she is a tyrant.
this, however, did NOT make red homophobic because she hated her mother and everything she stood for. so she decided she was queer out of spite (she did actually turn out to like women, but it was spite first) and LOVES gay people
